The Oculus has been reimagined to serve as a modern take on the traditional sukkah while maintaining its naturally sourced physical composition. The structure is constructed from primary materials such as trace paper and concrete form tubes. There are two modular frustums that when put together form a larger base unit. By assembling these units together, the larger structure of the sukkah begins to take form. The overall dome arrangement allows natural light to penetrate the structure to ensure the interior illumination, while the cones allow artificial light to radiate outward. The frustum’s vary in size and allow for a unique viewing experience while sheltering its inhabitants from the elements.
